Causing synapse collapse?

Bisphenol A (BPA), the widely used chemical in a broad range of plastic products, may inhibit some brain communicating functions related to reproduction. A study from Csaba Leranth et al. has shown for the first time that the formation of synapse usually induced by estrogen was being altered by the presence of BPA in primates.

The phenomenon has been extensively studied in rodents. However, this is the first time it’s being shown for nonhuman primates, leading the team to speculate the chemical also affects humans.
